Academic Success Kit

ASK - Academic Success Kit

The Academic Success Kit (ASK) intervention is for students on academic probation. This occurs when a student attempts 12 or more credits; is degree seeking; and drops below a 2.0 GPA. The intervention includes face-to-face workshops, and an on-line completion option.

Program Outcomes

• Decrease the number of students below 2.0 GPA.

• Help students gain awareness of their issues related to being on academic probation.

Program Philosophy/Purpose

This program uses group counseling methods to allow students on academic probation to explore the reasons for their academic challenges, and to determine new behaviors that will lead to academic success.

• Provide resources and support for students to choose to improve academic performance.

• Provide an environment for students to create a success identity, and to choose behaviors leading to academic success.

Student Success

  • Students who complete ASK identify that one of the main reasons they go on academic probation is because they work full time AND try and attend college full time! Asking a counselor for help with the stresses associated with this type of busy schedule can lead to success in college and life.
