Craftsman with Character is a course scholars spend four days a week at various companies learning about the jobs available. The fifth day of the week is in a company classroom where scholars will reflect on their experiences, learn about themselves, their life goals, and how to achieve them. Scholars will be at the job site for 90 minutes a day and rotate to a new business every two weeks. This course is a great way for scholars to explore manufacturing, trades, and other hands-on jobs in our communities.
Beginning in sixth grade, every scholar at The Lincoln Academy participates in two career panels each year focused on fields they are curious about and passionate about exploring. To support this, TLA hosts one to two career panels each month, welcoming professionals from a wide range of industries to share real-world insights and experiences. Scholars also take part in one to two industry field trips annually, giving them firsthand exposure to careers that align with their interests. As scholars progress to ninth grade, they engage in a “Career Chat” with industry professionals to dive deeper into potential career paths. Starting in tenth grade, all scholars complete a job shadow experience, allowing them to connect their interests to real workplaces and better envision their future careers.
