Each year, scholars in the Welding program design and fabricate functional cooking equipment, including rocket stoves, mini grills, pizza ovens, and other culinary-related projects. In complementary courses such as CNC machining, scholars produce cutting boards, pizza peels, and related food-preparation tools, reinforcing precision manufacturing and cross-program collaboration.
At the conclusion of the academic year, the Technology Education Department hosts an educational cookout that brings together families, staff, and industry partners who support and invest in the program. This culminating event serves as a community showcase of scholar work while celebrating technical skill development, teamwork, and achievement. Scholars apply their learning by preparing and cooking items such as pizzas, brats, and burgers using equipment they designed and built.
This event has become a valued tradition within the Technology Education program. All welding courses are offered for dual credit through Blackhawk Technical College, and instructors from the college regularly attend the cookout to engage with scholars and recognize their accomplishments.
