The goal of the first day is to build rapport with the students and create an atmosphere where they are comfortable and want to engage with the activities. We encourage you bring fun energy and lead with your own individual personality, but here is an agenda to help guide your breakout room:

3. Ice breaker:

   • One ice breaker that works really well is building a playlist together that can be played during the camp (what we did on the first day of coach training). Everyone should take turns saying a song that they really like or have been listening to, and discuss briefly the different elements that make the song enjoyable. The coach would then record the songs, and later make a playlist that can be shared with the students. (In the future, this playlist along with all of its songs will one day become nostalgic reminding them of their camp experience and when they started to street code)

   • Discussion session: Try to get the coders talking about what attracted them to the program. What hooked them? What are they hoping to get out of the program? What were/are their expectations ?

   • Note: Please find ways to encourage them to turn their cameras on, and help them to feel comfortable in doing so.

4. Fill out Technology Survey
