Why learn music and code?

We designed this set of kick off activities to help someone, who might be new to TunePad or Earsketch, explore why anyone should care about music, code and the links between the two. There are four prompting challenges in this module, and each asks participants to to think about the purposes and places music and code impact their lives.

• 30 minutes - make a copy of these slides and have participants work through the first four slides in small groups - (approx. 10-15 minutes per station)

  • After groups have finished each of the four stations, have them all proceed to slide 5

    • For this prompt, we ask learners to brainstorm a couple ideas for activities that they might use around the ideas they discussed in the other prompts. Often we hold this prompt until the everyone has spent time with prompts #1-4.

    • We encourage learners to write down their reflections/responses to this question as a way to begin writing up plans for future activities.

• With the remaining time, have groups share their thoughts and reflect as a group
