Looking Back and Final Project Composition

During this module, participants will reflect on their experiences so far with TunePad and EarSketch. We will discuss the strengths each platform contains along with the important characteristics that both platforms share. Time during this module will also be taken to finish music compositions providing a way for us to explore adding effects to them during our next session.

Part 1: Review of Concepts/Tools and How to Apply Them

• 30 minutes- Compare and contrast TunePad and EarSketch with a Venn diagram using this Google template

  • 5 minutes - participants work in groups or individually to brainstorm things you can do better in TunePad, things you can do better in Earsketch, and things that both platforms both do well. Have them fill out their own diagrams or lists in their personal notes

  • 5-10 minute - large group discussion

  • Ask them what they think they would use each platform for in the classroom teaching students. Which concepts is TunePad stronger at communicating? What might you use Earsketch to demonstrate?

• • • Another 5-10 minute discussion about their findings, this time centered more on how they can take what they’ve learned into a classroom with students.

Part 2: Completing Final Projects

• Review directions for final projects

• Have a few volunteers share some of their creative and technical blocks, or share what they have come up with so far with the group.

• Take home activity: finish the skeletal composition for their final projects
