FAQ's Reception

Q - Will there be a gradual start/induction or will they be expected to be in school full time on their first day?

A - Reception children will have a short gradual induction which involves:

 1. Child and parents to come into school to meet the Reception Team in the Summer Term before they start in the Autumn Term.

2. A home visit (for us to get to know you and your child) and a Nursery visit (should they currently attend a Nursery).

3. In September a half day settling in session in school without parents.

4. Following with a full day in class and then continuing full time in school

Q - What will my child need to bring to school?

A - So far they will only need their uniform, coat, water bottle and book bag.  Please make sure all are clearly labelled with your child's name. 

Q - Is there anything I can do to get my child ready to start school?

A - Yes, there is so much you can do! Have a look at this website with your child and talk to them about what their new school and teachers will look like. Look at the Ready Steady Reception pages on this site. Support your child in becoming more independent at home e.g getting themselves dressed, going to the toilet independently and practise putting their coats on.
