Autumn Term: Week 6 13/10/23

Week 6

It was lovely to see so many families attend our parents evenings this week. The teachers really enjoyed meeting with you and sharing your child's journey so far in their new classes. If you were unable to come to this week's parents evening, please do make contact with the school to make an appointment to speak with your child's class teacher. These meetings are really important to ensure you are aware of your child's successes and areas for improvement.

We are looking forward to our SEND parents evening next Tuesday (17th). If your child is on our SEND register and you haven't booked an appointment yet, please call the office to book one in with your class teacher. Mrs Maloney and Mrs Ryan will also be on hand to speak with families on the night.

Year 5 Soup Making

Year 5 have been learning about food preparation and healthy food choices in D&T. They applied the skills of cutting and chopping to make a healthy vegetable soup. The finished result smelt delicious. I wonder if any of our learners have tried to recreate this dish to give the adults a night off cooking!

Year 3 Mummification

Year 3 have been learning about the Ancient Egyptians and the impact that their civilisation has had on how we live today.

This week they have been finding out about the rituals associated with death in Egyptian times. As part of this they mummified some dolls. All of the internal organs were removed and placed safely in canopic jars and amulets were wrapped in the bandages to protect the body from evil spirits.

Year 5 and 6 Football

Our Year 5/6 girls and boys football teams have played 2 matches over the last couple of week.

Fixture 1 was against Thomas Whitehead. The girls played well, showing great communications and teamwork but narrowly missed out on the win. The boys team won their match!

Fixture 2 was against St Vincents. The girls continued to work well as a team and this time convincingly won their match. The boys worked well as a team but it was not their day for a win.
