Grade 8 Singapore
Grade 8 Singapore
We started our day bright and early, meeting everyone at the airport at 9:00 AM. We had just two late arrivals, which made the check-in process smooth and efficient. This gave the students plenty of time to explore the airport and enjoy each other's company.
The flight to Singapore was quick and enjoyable. Upon landing, we were greeted by the Learning Adventures team and headed straight for our accommodations. Buses 1 and 2 took the group to Mercure, while Buses 3 and 4 made their way to Ibis.
Students staying at the Mercure had a short walk to the restaurant, where they indulged in a buffet dinner. One of the highlights was definitely the shaved ice and ice cream—everyone loved it!
After our meal, we returned to the hotel where students had the opportunity to call their parents. I hope you all appreciated hearing from them!
All the students are now settled and cozy in their beds, ready for the adventures that await us tomorrow.
Thank you for your continued support!
Day 2
March 16,
Hello Everyone! We have just finished Day 2 of our amazing Experience Week trip in Singapore - a day FULL of excitement and fun.
We started our day by exploring the historical buildings in the main city center. First up was the stunning Victoria Theatre which dates all the way back to 1905. It’s a beautiful place that hosts plays, concerts, and even the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. Right next to it is the Supreme Court, which is super important since it houses the highest court in Singapore. As we walked around, we enjoyed the shade from the gigantic rain trees lining the streets. They are not just pretty; they're a haven from the sun while we were wandering around.
Next, we took a stroll along the Singapore waterfront. The views were breathtaking. We saw the iconic Esplanade, known for its unique durian shape - the most beautiful durian we’ve ever seen! And the Marina Bay Sands was just as spectacular, with its three towering buildings and the rooftop SkyPark that juts out like a boat. Then, we couldn't miss the famous Merlion, a statue with a lion's head and a fish body, representing Singapore’s rich history as a fishing village.
After all that sightseeing, we headed over to Kampong Glam, the historic Malay-Muslim quarter. It was fascinating to learn that this area used to be the royal seat of the Sultan of Singapore. We visited the beautiful Sultan Mosque, built in 1824, which has a stunning golden dome. The mosque is a place where people come to pray but also a spot rich with history.
Then we strolled down Haji Street. This colorful road was once where pilgrims prepared for their journey to Mecca, making it a significant spot for the Muslim community. The shops were amazing! We found unique Arabic coffee sets, vibrant textiles, and even ice cream in all sorts of flavors—it was hard to choose.
Later, we wandered into Little India. The streets were alive with the wonderful scents of incense, spices, jasmine, and sandalwood. It felt like we had stepped into another world! We then stopped at Plaza Singapura to shop and grab some delicious food.
To top off our day, we spent several hours at Gardens by the Bay. We visited the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest, which had this cool Jurassic theme. It felt like we were walking through a real-life dinosaur world. The immersive experience of the rainforest environment, alongside all the exotic plants from all over the globe, was just spectacular.
Today was packed with amazing sights, rich history, and delicious food. I can’t wait to see what tomorrow has in store for us. Stay tuned for more from our adventure in Singapore!

Singapore Experience Week - Day 4: Sustainability, Discovery, and Wildlife Under the Stars
Dear Parents,
What an incredible fourth day we've had here in Singapore! Your children continue to amaze us with their curiosity, enthusiasm, and wonderful behavior as we explore this remarkable city-state together.
Morning: Singapore's Water Story
We started our day at the Singapore Sustainable Gallery at Marina Barrage, learning about Singapore's innovative flood prevention system. The students were captivated by how the nine crest gates and powerful pumps protect low-lying areas like Chinatown and Boat Quay from flooding. Many made excellent connections to our geography lessons back home, asking thoughtful questions about water management in different climates. The panoramic views also provided perfect opportunities for group photos!

Educational
Fun Times
Afternoon: Singapore Discovery Centre
Our afternoon took us to the Singapore Discovery Centre in Jurong West, where interactive exhibits brought Singapore's remarkable transformation to life. The students were thoroughly engaged by displays showing the nation's journey from colonial times to its current status as a global hub. The center's vision of Singapore's future sparked animated discussions about urban planning and sustainable development, with many students drawing parallels to changes in our own community.
Evening: Night Safari Magic
The highlight was undoubtedly our visit to the world's first Night Safari! Across 40 hectares of preserved jungle, students observed nocturnal animals in their natural habitats under moonlight and subtle lighting. Your children showed remarkable respect for the wildlife, listening attentively to guides' explanations about animal behavior and conservation. The tram ride through different zones was thrilling, with students recognizing animals from science lessons and discovering new species.
Reflections
Today reinforced valuable lessons about sustainability, innovation, history, and conservation. Your children have been outstanding ambassadors, showing curiosity, respect, and maturity throughout all activities. They're building lasting memories while gaining perspectives that will influence their understanding of the world.
Thank you for entrusting us with your wonderful children – they're making this educational journey truly special for all of us.
Warm regards,
Grade 8 Teaching Team
Our Grade 8 explorers had a day of incredible contrasts this Thursday, transitioning from deep cultural reflection to high-energy island fun. We began the morning at Haw Par Villa, where students entered the immersive Hell’s Museum. While the name sounds intense, it provided a fascinating, age-appropriate look at how different cultures and religions interpret the afterlife and moral philosophy. Walking through the infamous "Ten Courts of Hell" dioramas, the students engaged in thoughtful discussions about ethics, karma, and the historical use of art to teach societal values—a truly unique "living textbook" experience that sparked plenty of curiosity.
By the afternoon, the energy shifted as we headed to Sentosa Island. The group took to the tracks at the Skyline Luge, navigating the twists and turns from the top of the island down to the beach with plenty of cheers (and a little friendly competition). To wrap up the day, we gathered on the sands of Siloso Beach for the Wings of Time light show. It was a spectacular finale, featuring 3D projection mapping, giant water jets, and a pyrotechnics display that lit up the night sky. It was the perfect way to celebrate a successful day of learning and adventure before heading back for some well-earned rest.
