This section requires you to read and reflect on the Introduction and Parts One and Two of Poor Students, Rich Teaching: Seven High-Impact Mind Sets for Students From Poverty. After each part, you will complete the activities outlined for each section. You will also spend time exploring and gathering ideas on possible ways that you can increase family engagement via use of resources provided by the South Dakota Family Engagement Center.

Family engagement/involvement has a significant correlation to student achievement. For that reason, it has been incorporated into this class. During each section, you will be asked to explore the SD SFEC Website for ideas and possible resources you can share with families. (You might take on-going notes to keep track of your ideas.)
