Unit 2, Activity 1: Researching School and District Priorities

1. Rock your librarian research skills and seek out the following documents or resources. When possible, include the links in your Leadership Conversation Portfolio. If not available online, simply collect copies for your own review.

• District annual and/or strategic plans

• District capital improvement plans (construction, technology, etc.)

• School improvement and/or site-based leadership plans

2. If your school and/or district publishes a website, newsletter, or news feed, seek out stories and posts from the last 12 months. If possible, collect useful links in your Leadership Conversation Portfolio.

3. Follow and/or review the social media posts for superintendents, district leaders, school leaders, and the school district.

4. In your Leadership Conversation Portfolio, begin identifying key themes and priorities that you see at both the school and district level.

Note: If you work with multiple schools or districts, select one school and/or one district that is most relevant to your own practice.
