Star Assessments are computer-based standardised tests designed to assess a students' reading level according to the English National Curriculum. They are used at various different times of the year to measure a student's reading level and reading progress. Star Assessments take 20-30 minutes to complete using an Internet enabled computer and can be adapted for students who are not yet reading independently. Parents and teachers can learn more about Star Assessments, and how to run them appropriately, on the Renaissance website here.
Under the supervision of a Librarian or Teacher, students can login here to complete a Star Assessment. A Star Assessment is not a test of a student's reading comprehension of a specific book, but rather a test of their overall reading skill. Please do not complete a Star Assessment unless directed by your Teacher or Librarian. Students will need their Accelerated Reader usernames and passwords to login. Click on "Star Reading" to get started.
Please see this helpful presentation for students on taking a Star Assessment. This presentation is intended to be used before Star Assessments by the Librarian or Teacher to introduce the activity.
