If you’re like me, you’re disturbed by the racial inequities that our Black brothers and sisters endure every day in America. Many white people have had the privilege of being largely unaware of the prevalence of these injustices until our smart phones and the media started reporting the tip of what is truly a monumental iceberg.
We didn’t know, because we didn’t have to know.
One of the ways to address these issues is to exercise our First Amendment Right to “petition the government for a redress of grievances” -- in other words, to call for legislative action to correct these wrongs.
I’m inviting you to join me in a safe, socially distanced, and group postcard-writing campaign, that will take us a few hours during the month of __________________ . (The reason for postcards will be explained at the beginning.)
One of the advantages of doing this together, is that once we are familiar with how to do it, each of us could replicate it with friends, a classroom, a book club, etc. to really build momentum for racial equity!
More details to come, but if you’d like the feeling of doing something concrete and effective for the social justice we all crave, please sign up to be in our Postcard Group by (date), as follows: (how to sign up).
Let’s take action. The world needs us now.
