At Western House Academy, we explore Design and Technology through our four main aspects: Values, Knowledge, Equality and Experience. Our curriculum encourages the development of Design and Technology knowledge and skills through cross curricular links with other subjects. We follow the schemes from KAPOW which helps our children explore, and gain knowledge of new concepts through the three main stages of Design and Technology: planning, making, and evaluating.
We encourage our pupils to use Design and Technology as a way to express individuality, creativity and exercise personal choice; it is a powerful vehicle for learning and is accessible to all.
At the heart of Design and Technology is the intent to ensure equal opportunities for all pupils in order to develop the creative, technical and practical expertise needed to perform everyday tasks confidently and to participate successfully in an increasingly technological world.
