Program Overview

In the second cycle of activities, Health and Wellness offers the following activities: Football, Badminton, Netball, Swimming, Development Golf, Ultimate Frisbee and Mental Health group with an overview of each offering detailed below.

Football

Football will be offered across the U14, U16 and U19 age groups. U14 is focussed on participation and learning the basics, which progress through the U16 and U19 programs becoming more competitive focused.

U14's will practice twice per week for 1hour each, U16's twice per week for 1.5hours each, and U19's will practice three times per week for 1.5hours. See the 'Program Cycle Schedules' page linked on the Home page for details.

All age groups will participate in both RSAC and SAIKAC tournaments. Dates and locations are as follows:

  • U14 Girls - RSAC 14th January @ JPGS, SAIKAC 2&3rd February @ BISJ

  • U14 Boys - RSAC 14th January @ TKS, SAIKAC 2&3rd February @ TWA

  • U16 Girls - RSAC 13th January @ TWA, SAIKAC 26&27th January @ ASD/BSD

  • U16 Boys - RSAC 14th January @ TWA, SAIKAC 26&27th January @ ASD/BSD

  • U19 Girls - RSAC 14th January @ AISJ, SAIKAC 2&3rd February @ AISJ

  • U19 Boys - RSAC 13th January @ AISJ, SAIKAC 2&3rd February @ TKS

NOTE: U16 Boys & Girls SAIKAC tournament are in Dammam and have a travel cost associated with participation. Those that commit to the program will be communicated with directly about this cost.

Badminton

Badminton will be offered across the U14, U16 and U19 age groups. U14 is focussed on participation and learning the basics, which progress through the U16 and U19 programs becoming more competitive focused.

Netball

Offered in Cycle 2

Netball will be offered to G6-12 girls. It is focussed on participation and learning the basics. The tournament at BISJ is only for U14's.

Netball will practice twice per week for 1hour each. See the 'Program Cycle Schedules' page linked on the Home page for details.

The Netball team will participate in a tournament hosted in Jeddah at the end of the season. Dates and locations are as follows:

Swimming

We are delighted to be able to offer a TKS Swim program which will include a variety of opportunities for students to get involved and develop their enjoyment of swimming as well as their technique and provide opportunities for competitive swimming.

In addition to curriculum lessons, there are 2 co-curricular swim program offerings during Cycle 2 with different focusses:

  1. TKS Swim Club for students who would like to develop their technique further and possibly compete at additional events throughout the year. Open to students from G4-12 during Cycles 2, 3 & 4.

  2. TKS Swim Development for students who would like to develop stroke technique, take the first steps towards possible competitive swimming and have some fun with activities/games that also contribute to technique development. Open to students from G1-7 during Cycles 1, 2, 3 & 4.

Students who sign-up for any of these activities will have a swim assessment to group them accordingly based on their swim technique and experience. Some students may be recommended to attend the KAUST Recreation Learn To Swim program to develop their confidence and technique prior to being able to join the activities offered at TKS.

To be able to offer this extensive program from G1-12 throughout the year there will be costs for student participation in all swim activities except the TKS Swim Team. These costs have been aligned with the KAUST Recreation Learn To Swim Program.

G6-12 Developmental Golf

For students in G6-12 who would like to try golf out- to work on becoming familiar with this truly international sport.

Whether you have swung a club before, only ever played mini-golf or none of the above, Developmental Golf is something you are bound to enjoy.

It is presented by the Safaa Golf Club by Mr. Aron, who does amazing work with developing golfers.

For students in G6-12 who have their own clubs and would like to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding of the game further. This will help progress students to be able to be considered for the TKS Golf Team in future years. One session per week will be on the driving range and the other out on the course.

G6-8 Ultimate Frisbee

Open to G6-8 of all skill levels. Ultimate Frisbee is a non-contact team sport which includes men’s, women’s, and mixed divisions. This club aims to introduce students to the basic rules of ultimate frisbee, teaching them how to throw, catch, and work together as a team to score and defend. Students will have a chance to improve their skills and athleticism through a mix of drills and scrimmages.

G9-12 Student Mental Health Ambassadors Group

This student-initiated and led group will consist high-school students who will serve as mental health ambassadors, concerned with monitoring and propagating the well-being of the student body.

G6-12 Touch Rugby

Offered in Cycle 2

Touch rugby is a team sport that was derived from Rugby Union.

In this sport, the tackling aspect of rugby is replaced with just a touch.

The sport is a great way to get fit, get outside and spend time learning a new sport. Games are conducted and played with players of both genders.


G5-7 Pickleball

Offered in Cycle 2

Pickleball is a sport that was looks a little like tennis, plays a little like tennis, squash and volleyball and is really easy to learn..

Learn about the kitchen, volleying, playing as partners and getting out of a pickle.

The sport is a great way to get fit, make friends and spend time learning a new sport. Games are conducted and played with players of both genders.
