For the 2025-2026 school year we have two Book Madness competitions! This year 4th and 5th will square off, and 6th through 8th will have their own Book Madness competition.
The reading part of the competition is open. The grade level to read the most books in each competition will win a prize (prizes to be announced shortly).
For more information about the rules of the competition please see the information below.
How to play:
ALL 4TH THROUGH 8TH GRADE STUDENTS MAY CHOOSE TO COMPETE IN BOOK MADNESS - IT IS 100% VOLUNTARY.
There are two competitions - one for 4th & 5th grades; and one for 6th, 7th & 8th grades.
There are two ways to participate: by reading the books and by voting for the books (the reading portion is active now, the voting portion will start at the end of January).
The competition should be encouraging and fun - encouraging friends to read is great - we should all encourage and respect each other's choices.
PARTICIPATING STUDENTS MAY READ AS MANY BOOKS FROM THE LIST OF 16 BOOKS as they can BETWEEN September 2025 AND February 20TH, 2026.
EACH BOOK PER STUDENT IS AN ENTRY (MEANING IF A STUDENT READS 3 OF THE BOOKS THEY HAVE 3 ENTRIES FOR THEIR GRADE).
IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR a prize in THE reading COMPETITION A GRADE MUST HAVE AT LEAST 18 ENTRIES.
reading is VERIFIED IN ORDER TO qualify for a prize. (the best way is through TAKING AN ar qUIZ or short summary. See the librarian if you have any questions.)
If you took an AR on a book madness book before this year’s competition it does not count to this competition.
You are not required to borrow the books from the library for this activity - classroom libraries, books from a friend, the public library are all fine. audio books and eBooks work, too!
tHE LIBRARY HAS more than one COPy OF MOST OF THE BOOKS, BUT AS A COURTESY TO OTHERS THAT MAY BE WAITING FOR THE BOOK, PLEASE RETURN YOUR BOOKS ON TIME.
if someone is waiting for the book to be returned, YOU MAY NOT RENEW A 'BOOK MADNESS' library BOOK. If you haven’t finished reading the book, speak to the librarian.
ALL 4TH THROUGH 8TH GRADE STUDENTS MAY PARTICIPATE IN THE VOTING FOR BOOKS.
Any other questions? Ask the Librarian! 🙂
