COME VISIT!

Our Library

The Hill School Library is home to various fiction, nonfiction, and reference materials.  We also currently have multiple databases through FactCite and Infobase that students may use to research for school projects and personal enjoyment.  Please feel free to stop by or contact our library if you have any questions about the collection.

A Note About the Collection:

The Hill School Library collection holds over 14,000 items from which students and staff may borrow. The library is divided into multiple sections to help make it easier to find a book for their needs.  The collection contains a variety of items including picture books, leveled readers, chapter books,  juvenile nonfiction (for PK-3), general fiction (3rd and up), general nonfiction, graphic books and upper grade fiction (focused for 6th to 8th grades).

Librarians do carefully review professional sources when selecting books; however, not all books will be appropriate for all students due to their wide range of interests and maturity levels.  Every student is unique and matures at their own pace.  We strongly encourage families to be involved in their child's reading to help them in selecting books that are right for them.  If there are any questions please contact the Librarian, Marnie Butu at: mbutu@thehillschool.org.

Library Classes

JK-6th grade students have library classes every week.  The library is also collaborating with 7th and 8th grade teachers to schedule time for research skills, media literacy, technology and health, games, book tastings and more.

Take a look at the list below to see what days your student has library class, to help them return books before their next library day:

Grades JK-2 - Thursdays            Grade 3 - Mondays             Grade 4 - Tuesdays           Grade 5 - Fridays             Grade 6 - Mondays & Tuesdays

Library Etiquette

We want all students to have a wonderful experience when in the library.  To the left are the library rules shared with library classes at the beginning of the year.  We ask  all students to be mindful of themselves and kind to others so that everyone can enjoy the space.

If you have questions about them please let us know.
