Jennifer Oshen is a speech-language pathologist experienced in early intervention, elementary and middle school settings, with a particular interest in culturally and linguistically diverse populations. She is the parent of three bilingual children.

Wee Chat is a course for parents and caregivers to discover the wonders of infant and toddler communication development. Caregivers will learn how speech and language typically develop from birth through 2 years of age and what strategies can support and engage your baby’s communication development.

Babies and toddlers ages newborn – 2 years will engage in songs, stories, and play during our time together and developmental information and strategies will be provided for the caregivers.

Topics Covered: Receptive Language; Expressive Language; Speech Sound Development; Sign Language; Engaging with Books; Bilingualism

Meet Ms. Virginia! She believes music circles should be interactive, entertaining and educational! Children and their caregivers warm up with classic songs, practice listening skills while using movement during rockin' freeze dances, explore the basics of our "Do Re Mi's" and take a trip to "Rhythm Town" to find new beats!

Classes aim to meet EVERY child where they are developmentally and are flexible & dynamic! Egg shakers, scarves, and “special” instruments will be shared in class.

SIGHT, SOUND, TOUCH, TASTE and SMELL

Kids ages 1-5 and their caregivers will enjoy a fun morning of Sensory Play. Set up in both guided and independent play stations, kids will have full autonomy to move from one sense to another at their leisure. There will be a variety of materials appropriate for young kids to engage with to increase their sensory play! Each session is themed. 

All children must be accompanied by a caregiver. Kids under 1 are included at no extra charge, but be sure that there are adult hands at the ready to participate.

Zumbini is an early childhood education program that uses original music and movement to promote cognitive, social, fine/gross motor skill and emotional development for children ages 0-4, all while creating the ultimate bonding experience for families.

Experience the joy of music, dance and storytime! We'll explore singing songs, a variety of instruments, rhythms, listening games and creative movement activities stimulating development and innate musical response. Incorporating engaging themes and props children are encouraged to interact together and at their own pace while learning in playful ways promoting self expression, growth and family fun.

Join us as we use songs, books, props and imagination to learn about dance, creative movement and ballet. Each week, we will peek into Miss Bethanne’s magic trunk to see what our theme is, and what special books and props we’ll be using for our class.

Theatre educator and Director Lisa Cocchiarale loves to bring stories to life! Transforming into storybook characters, Lisa will weave a tall-tale to get you into the spirit of the season! Great for big and little kids who love stories! 

Lisa is a fan-favorite in our summer camp playing such memorable characters as as Mother Earth, Professor Trelawney and Bellatrix LaStrange!

Dance Me A Story

Flex muscles and stretch imaginations. Dance Me A Story combines creative movement and storytelling. This active session will keep your littles moving from a warm up stretch into acting out a story with your body to a cool down.
Exercising the mind and the muscle! 

Best for steady walkers (~ 18 mos) to 5 years old.

Instrument Petting Zoo

Keep Music Alive will present a special music program at the PAC Center this Fall. Each session includes a musical instrument petting zoo, spotlights and demonstrations on different instrument groups, fun sing-alongs and a percussion parade. 

Themes for our 4 Fall Sessions are September (Percussion), October (Ukulele & Guitar), November (Piano/Keyboard) and December (Holiday with special musical craft).

Park Avenue Community Center

Newly re-named, the Park Avenue Community Center is home to a variety of programs, classes, meet-ups, and events. As of January 2022, The Creative Living Room will join The PAC as our home for our year-round programs. 

The PAC is partnering with Swarthmore United Methodist Church to bring the building back to life. Next door to the Swarthmore Library in the heart of Swarthmore Town Center, their motto is "We've Got Space For That!"
