It’s Fiesta Time! Celebrate “Cinco de Mayo”, Mexican culture and heritage with colorful folk dances, music, arts, crafts, face painting, traditional tastes and more in this special event for the whole family.

Charity Fun Fair

SLIME TIME! Find our table at the Fun Fair and choose your colors, scent and accent! 

Calling volunteer SLIME MAKERS! Do you love to make slime? Are you 10 years or older? Come help us out making and selling slime. We are looking for a minimum 1 hour commitment, but feel free to sign up for as many slots as you wish. If you have an adult who can help supervise, we'd love it! Volunteers SIGN UP HERE

Proceeds will benefit kids and family programming at Park Avenue Community Center

Disney Trivia Night

Think you know all about The Mouse? Test your knowledge at our Disney Trivia Night. This family-friendly fun-raiser will prove who’s been “all ears” when it comes to movies, characters, and random facts.

$100 per team (up to 8 players)

$15 per player (minimum 2 players per team)

Pizza and lemonade included. Players under 5 years old are free. Prizes for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place teams as well as "Best Dressed" team!

Chinese New Year

SUNDAY FEBRUARY 4, 2024
4:30-6:30PM at PACC


It’s the Year of the Dragon! Come celebrate the Chinese New Year filled with the traditional customs featuring a Lion Dance Parade, music, crafts and foods bringing good luck with this New Year holiday! And a special performance of traditional Chinese dance by Penn Chinese Dance Club.

Kids can make a variety of traditional and symbolic crafts, lead by Mandarin language teacher, Shujing Ding of Ding Ding Language Center, participate in a Lion Dance Parade with music, be entertained by a traditional Chinese dance performance from the Penn Chinese Dance Club and enjoy delicious dumplings, spring rolls, fruits and fortune cookies.

Geared for families with kids 2 - 10 – all ages welcome. Reservations requested.  Free and Open to the Public. Pay what you wish program. Suggested donation $20 per family/ $5 pp.

Under the direction of Ms. Shujing Ding, the Children's Chinese Language Program introduces Mandarin to the elementary age through art, song, video, dance and food. Classes are held at Park Avenue Community Center.

The Penn Chinese Dance Club (PCDC) is a student-run non-profit dance group dedicated to practicing Classical and Folk Chinese dance. PCDC’s mission is the enrichment and promotion of traditional Chinese arts and culture through dance exercises, instructions, and collaborations.

Diwali Celebration

Friday November 10 from 5:30 - 7:00pm
Park Avenue Community Center - 129 Park Avenue

It’s time to celebrate the Diwali New Year! Experience this festival of light through the traditional music, dance, art and culinary tastes of India during this joyful holiday! 

This cultural immersion program of traditional Indian music, dance, arts, foods and more will feature local artists. Kids can paint diyas’-clay pots, lead by artist Rinal Parikh and create colorful rongoli designs. The extraordinary Iyer family returns to present classical Kathak dance and Garba with sticks performed by Anita Singh and her daughter as well as a lively percussion and interactive demonstration by master musician Sriram Balasubramanian accompanied by his son and more. 

Geared for families with kids 2 - 10 – all ages welcome. Reservations requested.  Free and Open to the Public. Pay what you wish program. Suggested donation $20 per family.

Theatre educator and Director Lisa Cocchiarale loves to bring stories to life! Transforming into "The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything", Lisa will weave a tall-tale to get you into the spirit of the season! Great for big and little kids who love stories! Geared for kids 8 and under

Lisa is a fan-favorite in our summer camp playing such memorable characters as as Mother Earth, Professor Trelawney and Bellatrix LaStrange!

Afterwards, there will be cider and cookies directly across the street in front of The Phantom House Escape Room (at 112 Park Avenue)

Harry Potter Trivia

SATURDAY OCTOBER 14, 2023 - Family Friendly!

Come test your witch and wizarding knowledge in our Great Hall! This family-friendly fundraiser will prove who knows their Potions, Herbology, and obscure bits and pieces of the world of our favorite wizards.

YogAmi: Family Yoga

3rd Saturdays in Spring 2023: March 18, April 22, May 20, June 17

Come PLAY at ‘YogAmi’, a creative community yoga class of exercise for the body and simple breathing and meditation to calm mind and heart while incorporating interactive songs, movement, stories and games, partner and group poses. While engaging with nature, our senses and imaginations we'll be improving flexibility and promoting healthy fun and friendship within our community.

Kids ages 2 - 7 years (children under 4 attended by an adult)

Adults of all ages with or without children are invited to join Allison DeSalvo for this new intergenerational class for the whole community. Meets once a month.

Be a ‘change maker’! You too can make the world a better place inspired by the achievements and contributions of leaders like Harriet Tubman and Fredrick Douglas to Martin Luther King Jr., Ketanji Brown Jackson and others.

Join educator, local historian, community activist and collector Twyla Simpkins, founder/director of The Yes We Can Achievement & Cultural Center of Chester, who will share life affirming stories and videos of great American heroes ‘then and now’, and the accomplished West African drummer and teacher, Anssumane Silla, who will lead the audience in live music and dancing. 

Young and old can design a square for a group quilt discovering it’s significance, view a doll display, get hands on playing a djembe and more. Learn about black history in this interactive enrichment program that expands our worldview, promotes family engagement, diversity and inclusion in our communities. Refreshments after the program.

Cinco de Mayo

Friday May 5, 2023 5:30-7pm

This event invites families to come enjoy these holiday traditions brought to life through an interactive program that includes learning a classic Mexican step-dance, making tissue paper flowers and colorful maracas, rolling tacos to eat along with chips and salsa, storytelling, and Spanish music culminating in breaking open a Pinata for take home treats.

Swarthmorean Leticia Roa Nixon will tell the story of Cinco de Mayo and Nuuxakun Folclorico Mexicano, a Philadelphia-based family dance company will perform traditional dances in colorful costumes.



Delco Arts Week

Annually in October, the arts and cultural organizations in Delaware County present a variety of performances, exhibitions, open houses, festivals, craft markets, classes and workshops. Enjoy the Arts in Delco! 

THANKS & GIVING

Catch a ride on the music train through a joy filled festival of songs for the season with TCLR co-founder, teaching artist and singer/children’s entertainer Allison DeSalvo and Friends at World of Song’s 17th “Thanks & Giving” Children’s Benefit Concert. Come sing and dance along for this year’s charity in support of grandparents raising grandchildren.

Dance for Ukraine
A Community Folk Dance Workshop 

Raising funds for relief

All ages welcome and families encouraged! Instructor Kristine Izak will be sharing an introduction to Ukrainian folk dance. This event is open to the community and families are encouraged to attend together. The workshop will include traditional folk dance steps from the central Kyiv region of Ukraine, and from the Carpathian Mountains regions of Western Ukraine. She will also show and discuss a collection of traditional Ukrainian folk arts. Come enjoy learning the fun and exciting steps of Ukrainian dance that resonate with the heartbeat of Ukraine. Hopak! Let’s dance!


Ms. Izak is providing this class in exchange for donations that will go directly to humanitarian aid in the Ukraine.

BOO Run 5K & Kids Dash

The BOO Run 5K Run/Walk & Kid's Dash operated for four years 2015 - 2018 on a route in and around Wallingford. Over 150 runners, walkers and dashers participated in their best costumes! Rain or Shine!
