Covid-19

Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to receive our notices, updates and additional information.

Winter 2023: Policy is unchanged from Fall 2022. Park Avenue Community Center is mask-optional. We follow the guidelines set forth in the WSSD Health & Safety Plan.

Fall 2022: Mask optional. All our programs are running in person and we abide by the policies set by the facility and follow any major guideline changes put out by WSSD schools, county, state and federal mandates. When attending any program in-person, it is assumed that families will adhere to the procedures for masking and isolating in the event of a covid exposure or positive test and that children will not attend any program if they are sick or signs of any symptoms. A waiver is required prior to participating in a program.

Summer Camp 2022: We will be onsite in two locations. Covid protocols will be updated closer to the start of the summer. We follow CDC recommendations and Delaware County Health Department guidelines in conjunction with covid-committees at both locations. An updated TCLR Health and Safety Plan will be distributed in early June to all registered campers.

Spring 2022: After School classes will be in person at Park Avenue Community Center and current covid guidelines (including masking) at the facility are in effect. As of April 12, PAC has re-instated the indoor masking requirement. TCLR complies with all facility guidelines.
As of April 25, PAC has transitioned to mask-optional.

Winter 2022: After School classes resume IN PERSON at Park Avenue Community Center in Swarthmore at 129 Park Avenue. Busing is available from all WSSD schools. Current covid protocols are in effect including masking indoors, contact tracing and following updated guidelines. Summer 2022 Camp Schedule will be online in mid-February.

Fall 2021: TCLR classes return to in-person programming at Swarthmore-Rutledge School and Congregation Beth Israel of Media. CDC guidelines will be observed including masking indoors. WSSD put a hold on the contract with the decision not to allow outside groups access to the school building as part of their current covid-protocols. Once this mandate is lifted, we will re-schedule classes and open registration.

Summer 2021: Please review our Health & Safety Plan for Summer Camp 2021. This plan is subject to change as guidelines are updated. Changes will be communicated when applicable.

Spring 2021: As we start to offer in-person programming, TCLR will follow all current PA State mandates, Chester County Health Department and CDC Guidelines for Youth and Summer Camps. We will update our policies regarding masking, social distancing, health screening and waivers in conjunction with the guidance. Families will have to determine their own risk to participate in an in-person programs.

As of February 13, 2021: Summer Camp 2021 will be ONSITE at Congregation Beth Israel of Media (542 S. New Middletown Rd, near Linvilla Orchards).

As of September 30: Fall session is postponed. We will re-post the schedule for Winter session starting in January. Winter session will be all virtual.

As of August 26: Fall 2020 will be online. Stay tuned for class details and schedule.

As of July 7: As promised, our Board met to talk through the two scenarios for our August camp weeks. We had hoped to hear more from the surrounding school districts about re-opening plans for Fall, but like so many they are not ready to make decisions just yet. Therefore, we discussed all our options and voted to remain VIRTUAL for August. As you can imagine, this was a complex decision and I’m sure you all know the variables we considered in coming to this conclusion. Ultimately, we are here to provide a safe and creative environment for the kids and our teaching staff. We do not feel that going onsite for our remaining four weeks of camp is the best move at this moment. We sincerely hope you all understand. There is no right decision, just the best decision we can make with the information we have on hand.

Request a refund August camp fees OR to transfer into a virtual camp. We will refund the difference. Deadline to request a full refund will be FRIDAY JULY 17th. We have a waiting list for a few of our August weeks and want to open up virtual option to those families. We have also altered our registration deadline for virtual camp to 7 days before the camp week in question (rather than the Wednesday before). We need to allow for additional shipping times for our supplies.

Lastly, The Creative Living Room wants to continue to operate as a creative space for all. We hope we will be able to come up with a viable solution for our programs for the upcoming school year once we know more about district plans. We can continue virtually, BUT if any of you have any bright ideas, please contact Lisa or one of us on the Board. Come the Fall, we will open conversations about where TCLR can go in this new world. We need your input.

We cannot begin to THANK YOU for all your patience and support as we all work this through together. Please stay safe and healthy, find us online, and we hope for the best for all of us these next few months.

As of June 6: Virtual Camp Program is OPEN from June 22 – July 31. If you have a camper currently registered and have not requested a refund for June or July, we will automatically move your registration to our virtual program and refund you the difference.

For those not yet registered, [click here] for more information about our virtual program and to register. Registration closes the Wednesday before each week of camp, if the camp is not yet full. For information about our August camps that are still scheduled as an onsite program.

As of May 22: After an initial survey, two parent zoom calls, additional market research and a follow-up Board meeting, we have decided to cancel all onsite camps for June and July. We do not feel that restrictions will ease with enough time to shore up our staff, prep for camp and confirm all the covid-compliance procedures. We made this decision out of an abundance of safety. At this time, we have not cancelled onsite camps for August. We remain cautiously optimistic about the end of the summer and hope to see what schools will be implementing for Fall so we may follow suit. We will continue to monitor the situation and will provide an update in the latter part of June. If we cancel August camps as well, we will refund camp fees regardless of decision date.

We are planning to offer a virtual camp option. Please provide us with feedback on our draft plans (now closed). All registered campers would have a guaranteed spot.

If you wish to receive a refund, please fill out this form. Please be specific about which children/dates you are requesting a refund. This is particularly important for those of you signed up for multiple weeks, including August, which is not yet cancelled. Also, you may feel one child would be more interested in our virtual offerings than another. If you paid by credit card, refunds will go back on your card minus the standard credit card processing fee.

Please consider donating a portion of your refund back to our organization. Summer camp income is integral to our operating budget and helps us get through the rest of the year. Your support can help ensure that we will make it through these uncertain times. All donation amounts will receive a tax deductible letter and our unwavering gratitude.

As of May 5: As you all know, we are still under shelter-in-place guidelines with reliable information that we will remain this way well into May. We are working on alternative plans to our onsite camp program, in the event that our area is not completely ready to open up to larger group gatherings by the first week of camp, June 22. We feel it is prudent to plan for both outcomes. We would like your input to find the best solution for your camper. Please fill out the following SURVEY (now closed) and join a Camp Parent ZOOM call to express your comments and concerns if and when camp opens, hear more about virtual plans in the works, and give your opinions about potential of camp online.

If you have already registered for Summer Camp, please check your email as we have sent a specific message to you regarding current registration

As of April 9: Gov Wolf recently cancelled the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. For now, we will stay the course with our camp program continued registration and start date of June 22 until additional federal or state guidelines are put forth for convening groups late into June. Our Board will discuss the possibility of delaying the start date and/or offering online alternatives and when those plans may need to be implemented. Please check back for more information.

As of March 30: Spring session has been cancelled. Any students already registered for Spring will receive a full refund. Please be on the look out for the charge to appear back on your card in the next few days.

Would you want to ZOOM with us? Please fill out this poll to let us know if we should schedule a handful of classes online.

As of March 15: On Friday we posted this notice to our Facebook Page
Due to the directive by Gov Wolf closing all K-12 schools, we will follow suit and cancel all our classes and programs at SCC and SRS for the next two weeks starting Monday March 16. We will prepare to resume classes Monday March 30, unless otherwise directed. We have not made any adjustments just yet to the upcoming break or Spring session. Registration is still open for Spring and Summer Camp. We will wait to see how the next few weeks unfold to decide if any changes are necessary. Thank you for your support! Stay healthy and safe!
