Instructor: Andie Wong
In this class we explored different horror tropes and genres and how those ideas applied to different creative mediums. We discussed contemporary horror and shared some of our favorites, as well as creating our own original horror concepts.
We created slide shows based off characters from the SCP Foundation archive. Students had the chance to choose an existing character to make a presentation on, or create their own original story.

Tom's Final Project
As he reaches for the doorknob, he feels a sense of inescapable dread, that if he turns that doorknob, he won’t see his family again. The doorknob shakily gets turned and the door is frictionless as it glides slowly open. He reached for his back, hoping to find his flashlight, not dead, unlike everything else in this house. A hopefully not dead flashlight was retrieved from his backpack, and his face drooped when he clicked the flashlight on and nothing happened. Chucking it into the house, he didn’t hear a crash as it hit the wall or a floor, he listened a bit longer, still nothing. By now it had been ten seconds and still heard only the whistling that came from the door open, acting like an airlock. The incomparable feeling to his face when he found his dead flashlight was nothing compared to how he felt when he heard nothing. He didn’t really need the 20 dollars his friend would give him after exploring this abandoned house. He slowly moved his foot forward, not lifting it up to step, making sure if there was some sort of hole, he wouldn’t fall in. Slowly but surely he slid farther and farther into the house, he couldn’t have thrown his flashlight this far, but still felt no hole. He wasn’t sure if not finding a hole was good or bad, knowing that now his flashlight disappeared. Now he was extending his hands, trying to find walls to hold on to or lean on. Still he felt nothing, deciding $20 was not enough for this, he turned around, expecting to see a door extending to outside of the house, he saw nothing. Not like he stepped down stairs, he slid forward only a couple dozen feet, he should be able to easily see the door. Slowly walking back to where the door once was, he was sure by now he would have been outside, except he was still stuck in darkness.
