ETA utilizes VISUAL ART and MUSIC as instructional strategies to directly teach English Language Arts and Mathematics while strengthening Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Skills.
ETA serves students and teachers of grades 3-5 in NYC School District 75 for students with disabilities and includes:
In-class arts residencies for students including trips to a museum and concert. The ETA curriculum and arts-based instruction is developed to address the needs of all students with disabilities in NYC School District 75.
Professional development workshops, coaching and modeling for teachers to learn how to integrate arts-based instruction into their teaching of literacy and math
Additional training for select classroom teachers to enable them to turn-key instruction
Teacher Resource of Arts-Integrated Lessons (TRAIL) - a digital resource library of arts-based lessons, curriculum maps and embedded schedules for use by District 75 teachers citywide, upon completion of the grant.
Year 1: Planning and Training
The staff of CEI and District 75 worked closely together to train, plan and
develop customized programming to meet the specific needs of students
and teachers of District 75.
Years 2, 3, 4: Implementation
In each implementation year, ETA serves:
8 school sites
24 classroom teachers of grades 3-5
Up to 208 students of grades 3-5 in 6-1-1, 8-1-1 and 12-1-1 classes
Metis Associates is the external evaluator for the ETA program and evaluates all implementation and outcomes.
