Mobile phones should not be seen, used or interacted with in any way at all on the School premises. From the time students enter the school gate in the morning, until they leave the school gate at the end of the day, they should not be in possession of their mobile phone.
All students who carry a mobile phone should lock it in their locker on arrival at school.
Phones should not be seen on the playground or in corridors on the way into school. Phones
should be inside school bags and locked into lockers immediately on arrival to school.
1. If a student is seen with their mobile phone, or seen to have a mobile phone in their possession, the phone will be confiscated by a member of staff;
2. The confiscated phone will be placed in Reception and can be collected by the student at the end of the school day and the student will leave through the Reception gate;
3. The student will be issued with a Reflection commensurate with the number of times this has happened i.e. 30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes. It is hoped that the matter is resolved at that point;
4. If a student refuses to hand over their mobile phone for confiscation for the day, regrettably the student will be suspended from the school;
5. If a student denies being in possession of a phone, a search will be carried out in accordance with the School’s searching and confiscation policy (either with the student’s
consent or, if refused, by parents being required to come into school to conduct the search).
6. If the search reveals possession of a mobile phone, the student will be suspended for refusal to hand over the mobile phone for a day of confiscation and for disrupting the smooth running of the School through non-compliance.
If a student needs to contact a parent or carer, they will be able to do so through the school office, and we will make every effort to facilitate any urgent communication.
All of the above expectations and procedures also apply to smart watches.
