Pre-Program Travel

Please Note

• Tuition does not include the cost of travel to and from the program

• Do not book your flight to the program until you've been notified to do so

Traveling to your Program

• SSB offers airport service for your student if you do not plan on traveling with them

  • For families planning on utilizing the airport service, please make sure your flight aligns with the required time window:

    • For flights coming into JFK Airport, students must arrive between 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM

    • For flights coming into LGA Airport, students must arrive between 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM

  • If you have opted into the SSB Airport Service, please make sure to upload the correct forms.

  • The shuttles will leave each airport at 4:30/5:00 sharp, no exceptions. Rideshare apps are a great and safe option to travel from the JFK or LGA airport to campus if you are unable to book your flight within the windows. Students who arrive earlier than the flight window must wait at the airport until SSB staff arrive to the meet up location. 

• If you do not plan on utilizing the SSB Airport Service, check-in for Residential students will be on the first Sunday of your session between 4-6 PM. Please check out the Arrival Day page for more info!

Unaccompanied Minor Service (not offered by SSB)

• Unaccompanied Minors: Depending on the airline and your student's age, families may decide to purchase the Unaccompanied Minor Service through your airline. Unaccompanied Minors are provided (and in some cases required) an escort by the airline to/from the gate. The airline must also have the name(s) on file in advance of the individual(s) who will escort the unaccompanied minor through security and wait until they board, and who goes to meet them on the other side.

  • If you purchase the Unaccompanied Minor service you must note this in your completed flight itinerary form found in the Pre-Program Requirements page. You must tell SSB if you decide to purchase this service from the airline 3 weeks prior to program start date. 

Travel while on Program

During your program, there will be certain scheduled events where students will need transportation. All program related travel is included in your tuition cost. Some examples of transportation that you may use while on program are listed below.

• Public transportation 

  • NYC subway, public buses, or ferries

• Private transportation

  • Coaches or school buses, Ride share services if needed but very rare

Post-Program Travel

Departing from your Program

• SSB also offers airport service for your student if you do not plan on traveling back with them

  • For families planning on utilizing the airport service, please make sure your flight aligns with the required time window:

    • Flights from JFK Airport MUST depart no earlier than 12:00 pm

    • Flights from LGA Airport MUST depart no earlier than 12:00 pm

      • Please note, staff does not stay on site at the airport with your student after dropping off at the airport

  • If you have opted into the SSB Airport Service, please make sure to upload the correct forms through the Parent/Student Application Dashboard.

• If you do not plan on utilizing the SSB Airport Service, check-out will be on the last Friday of your session between 7-10 am. Please check out the Departure Day page for more info!

• Unaccompanied Minors: Depending on the airline and your student's age, families decide to purchase from the airline the Unaccompanied Minor Service. Unaccompanied Minors are provided an escort to/from the gate by the airline. The airline must also have the name(s) on file in advance of the individual(s) who will escort the unaccompanied minor through security and wait until they board, and who goes to meet them on the other side. 

  • If you choose to travel as an Unaccompanied Minor please note this in your flight itinerary form found in the Pre-Program Requirements page and uploaded in the Parent/Student Application Dashboard.

  • We cannot accommodate Unaccompanied Minor service departure flights later than 3pm. You must inform SSB if you decide to purchase the Unaccompanied Minor Service through your airline.
