Airport Service Information
SSB offers an airport service for students traveling without a parent or guardian. If you have opted into the SSB Airport Service, please ensure that all required forms are uploaded at least one month before your session start date. Families utilizing this service should ensure that flights align with the required arrival time window:
Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) Arrivals: flight must arrive between 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM CDT*
Students who arrive before the flight window will not be met by a SSB staff member until the beginning of the arrival window.
In advance of travel, you will receive the name and cell phone number of the SSB staff member(s) who will meet students at the airport.
The airport shuttle to campus is scheduled to depart at 4:30pm
*SSB team members monitor real-time flight status in case of delays or cancellations outside of the arrival window and coordinate transportation.
If you are not using the SSB Airport Service, check-in will be on the first Sunday of your session between 3:00pm - 6:00pm. Please visit the Arrival Day page for more information!
Unaccompanied Minors: Depending on the airline and your student's age, families may need to opt-in to the Unaccompanied Minor Service. Unaccompanied Minors are provided an escort to/from the gate. The airline must also have the name(s) on file in advance of the individual(s) who will escort the unaccompanied minor through security and wait until they board, and who goes to meet them on the other side.
If you do not plan on using the Summer Springboard (SSB) Airport Service, check-in will be on the first Sunday of your session between 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Please check out the Arrival Day page for more information on the hall and parking.
Student Drivers: Students will not have access to their vehicles during their scheduled program time, according to our SSB Policies. Summer Springboard does not pay or give parking permits to any students who will need to park their car.
Subway (MBTA): The closest subway station to the MIT campus is Kendall/MIT Station, located on the Red Line of the MBTA. This line provides convenient access to downtown Boston, Harvard Square, and South Station (with connections to Amtrak and regional buses).
Bus: Several MBTA bus routes serve the MIT campus and surrounding areas. Common routes include the 1, 47, CT2, and 64, with stops along Massachusetts Avenue, Vassar Street, and Memorial Drive.
