The following is information for students to know before arriving to program
All Summer Springboard Students are required to agree and abide by the Code of Conduct. Violation of the Code of Conduct can result in expulsion from the program.
A copy of the code of conduct will be signed by the student and the parent.
For students’ own safety, Summer Springboard requires students to stay within a prescribed boundary.
You can view the boundary map here
Students are allowed outside the Housing complex between 7:00 a.m. and 9:30 p.m., but they must stay within the assigned boundaries.
Outside these hours, students must be inside/on campus unless they attend official programming that requires them to be elsewhere.
If students are found outside the boundaries, these privileges can be revoked for the entire student body. Repeat offenders can be dismissed.
While on excursions, boundaries will also be set, and students may not leave these boundaries.
If students find themselves lost at any time, they should immediately call their Resident Mentor or Campus Director for assistance.
When on campus, students will be supervised by staff for the entire duration of the program and may not explore the campus without Summer Springboard supervision.
Whether on an excursion or off-campus, students should never travel alone. Students must always travel in groups of three or more.
We encourage students to spend time together during the program; however, the following boundaries must be maintained:
Commuter students may not enter dorm rooms. Students may socialize in the dormitory courtyard, lounges, or other common areas where program activities take place and under supervision.
Students are not allowed to enter the sleeping quarters of any room not assigned to them, unless given direct permission by a Program Staff member. Doing so will result in consequences that could lead to dismissal from the program.
During evening events, residential students may socialize in a dorm suite of their same gender, in the courtyard, or in other common areas designated for Summer Springboard use.
To ensure the safety of all participants, male students are not permitted in the rooms or in dormitory areas designated for female students and vice versa. Any student found violating this rule may be sent home at his or her expense.
Only Summer Springboard students and staff, and MIT Campus staff are allowed in Summer Springboard dorm areas
Students are responsible for any costs incurred due to room damage or lost keys. Lost keys cost $150 for the bedroom key and suite door key.
Students will be assigned to a double room and will have one roommate. Bathrooms are traditional style and are shared with students of the same gender on the designated floor.
Students cannot switch rooms and must spend the night in their assigned rooms.
In accordance with Summer Springboard summer program policies, students must be inside the residence hall by 9:30 p.m., unless otherwise directed by residential staff. Students are expected to keep noise levels to a minimum at all times, particularly during evening hours.
All common spaces and lounges must be kept clean and orderly. Students may not leave personal belongings, food, supplies, or trash in shared areas.
Following Mentor Check, students are expected to remain in their rooms, keep noise to a minimum, and be mindful of others who may be sleeping.
Students are expected to treat fellow residents, residential staff, and university housing staff with respect at all times.
9:30 pm: All students must be inside the dormitory. Students should not be outside unless they are attending a scheduled activity until the following morning.
10:30 pm: All students must be in their room for Mentor Check. Once Mentor Check is complete, students must remain in their suites and may only leave in the event of an emergency or to speak to the Mentor on Duty.
Students must be in their rooms each night at the time designated for Mentor Check, which starts at 10:30 p.m.
Students must be awake and present so their Mentor can see them.
Summer Springboard staff will not allow commuter students to check out on their own unless authorization is provided in the Family Dashboard.
Students who are not given permission to check out on their own will need a parent or authorized individual present with proof of identification in order to check out.
Student Drivers: Students will not have access to their vehicles during their scheduled program time and will only be able to access their vehicles after the day program end time. Summer Springboard does not pay for or provide parking permits to commuter students, who will need to park their cars for the day.
Summer Springboard is not responsible for arranging parking or providing assistance with campus parking if your child decides to drive to the program.
Summer Springboard is not responsible for any tickets your child may receive while on campus or while driving to and from campus.
