Bringing the Real World Into the Classroom
By: Michelle Pantel Updated: September 2022
Providing a real world perspective in the classroom comes with the ultimate goal of preparing students for their future. A question to consider when planning for a real world perspective is why is the outcome important to teach, and what careers are impacted from learning this outcome in real life.
Real world perspective challenges the students to look at what they are learning through another’s eyes. This strategy has students use sophisticated thought processes, and requires abstract thinking.
In this video a teacher reflects on her class using real world perspective and you can see students "in action".
