Although students in TK do not have homework packets and do not need to set aside time each week to study for tests, we do want them to start getting in the routine of doing nightly homework. For TK, the students will each pick a new book everyday from our classroom to borrow and bring home. Your child's homework is to bring the book home and have someone read it to them. The adult, or older sibling, will read the book and fill out the nightly reading log.

The purposes behind assigning reading homework:

Some students may choose to bring home the same book everyday. Some students may have a different book at home that they want you to read instead of the book they brought home from school. All of this is perfectly acceptable. The main goal is to simply read a book every night. Please make every effort to ensure the completion of this reading homework each night.

In addition to daily reading homework, students also have a weekly Show and Tell assignment. They may bring any non-living item to school to share with us on the assigned day of the week. The item may be a toy, a special object such as a trophy, a photograph, or they can choose to demonstrate a special trick they know how to do. You may also email me a video of something your child is doing at home or outside of school that they want to share with us. The purpose of Show and Tell is for us to get to know your child better and for your child to practice their listening and speaking skills. They will be encouraged to speak with their "strong" voice so we can all hear what they are saying and to use complete sentence to describe the object or tell us more about it. The goal is for your child to use three complete sentences to tell us about their Show and Tell item each week.
