With CaptionHub's new AI feature, you can start your subtitles with an AI-translated first draft. Learn how to use this powerful tool to speed up your work and how to refine AI drafts to upkeep translation quality.
During the initial rollout phase, the AI feature will be available in 26 languages. We are working on making this feature more accessible to all languages in the near future.
Once you’ve claimed a new translation assignment, the AI-generated draft will automatically appear in the subtitle editor. AI drafts are currently supported in 26 languages, on projects added to CaptionHub on and after September 19, 2023.
When working with AI-translated subtitles, pay close attention to common errors, such as unusual expressions, missing or added words, punctuation, and grammar. Translation for metadata (title and description) has yet to be supported by CaptinoHub’s AI-translation engine.
Alternatively, should you wish to create a translation from scratch, click on the "Clear all subtitles" button under the gear icon to generate an empty draft.
It's crucial to approach the AI-translated subtitles as a foundation for your work rather than a final product, a tool that can enhance your translation process rather than replace it entirely.
To ensure accurate and high-quality translations, follow these best practices:
Prioritize watching the talk before editing the draft. This initial viewing helps identify areas that need improvement and provides an overall understanding of the content.
Be critical about the AI-translated draft. Human refinement is crucial for coherent and meaningful translation. Pay close attention to:
Meanings of words
Literal translation
Unnatural language
Keep the context of the talks in mind to accurately capture the speaker's styles and tone in your translation.
Focus on concise and effective language in your translation. AI often constructs unwieldy sentences, requiring human refinement for better readability.
Don't hesitate to erase a whole segment of AI translation and approach it with a fresh perspective. Sometimes, a complete rewrite can result in improved clarity and coherence.
We have implemented safeguards to prevent misuse of this feature. We also have robust monitoring tools in place to track user editing history of AI-translated drafts. Necessary downgrades might be implemented for users abusing the feature, such as submit unedited AI-translated draft for review/publish.
We are a small team managing a volunteer community of over 50,000 translators. To help us reduce the request backlog, we ask you to check the info on this site first. If you couldn’t find an answer, please use this form to report any issues you encountered with the tool.
