The Norman Kirk Award for Manaakitanga.
This trophy was gifted by Christchurch Labor MPs to acknowledge a student that shows respect, generosity and care for others. The recipient of this award is an exemplary student consistently demonstrating Manaakitanga. Staff describe her as dedicated, supportive, confident, quiet and a leader who reflects and perseveres. Grounded and generous, this student consistently seeks opportunities to respect and care for people. Her ahua and her actions have the effect of people feeling safe and connected. Multiple Te Ao Haka disciplines are nothing new to this student, nor is the stage for National Kapa Haka Competitions or Academic Awards.
Seth Porter

The Rob Burrough Cup for Demonstration of School Values and contributing to the wider school.
Here at Te Aratai College we endeavour to encourage the principal values or Uara of Manaakitanga, Whanaungatanga, Rangatiratanga, and Tūrangawaewae. The recipient of the Rob Burrough Cup is a student that we feel has embodied these values - Uara - consistently throughout the year. This student is well known for his diligence, his potential in leadership and encouragement of others to be their personal best. He is respectful, generous and never learns or succeeds without supporting his peers to do the same alongside him. He is the embodiment of Ngā Uara o Te Aratai. He already has a profound effect on the culture of our kura - he is one to watch. “Poipoia te kākano kia puawai”.

25th Anniversary Commemorative Prizes
Awarded to students who have contributed to a wide, valuable and lasting impression upon their kura and community. Our second recipient has made a huge contribution to our school sporting and Pacifica community. She is a quiet young woman who has led our school with integrity and humility. It has been a pleasure to see her grow in this leadership role watching her work with our younger Pacifica students and also alongside her teachers. This student has reached outstanding levels of sporting success representing Canterbury in League where she was named as the captain of the team and MVP of the tournament. This student embodies leadership through service in the way she conducts herself at school and how she interacts with her peers and teachers. She is a strong and confident young Pacifica woman whose speech on Identity will long be savoured and whose voice will be missed in our groups and presence around our school.
