Class Overview
Students in grades six through eight have the privilege of choosing dance, and are therefore challenged at different levels. By the time dance students graduate 8th grade, they will have a thorough understanding of the body, and different styles of dance, i.e. jazz, contemporary, hip hop and choreography. Students will also get a historical context of dance and the impact it had on society and vice versa. Dance has the potential to touch all subject areas and bring students to a new level of awareness about the world and themselves.
Below you will find the welcome letter for each grade, which includes how the grade for dance class is broken down, and the required attire for class.
Each dance class in Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin has its own Google Classroom. If your child is not in my Google Classroom yet, or if a parent would like to be added, please use the link below to find the code for the correct class in the correct school and join! I will use Google Classroom to post videos of dance practices, documents and project materials.
