Last year was the first year for this contest. Many students entered for their shirt to be chosen. The winning designer is wearing her design below!
I am glad the contest is back for a few reasons: one, this is a fundraiser! The t-shirts sold are raising money to help build the dance program. Two, shirts will go on sale earlier(November/December), and will possibly be sold at the show at the end of the year. This means that families have more time to purchase a shirt and more people can order a shirt. Three, the winning student's design will be worn by over 100 students in Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson middle schools, not to mention other supporters who decide to purchase a shirt at the respective shows. The showcase at the end of the year is a final grade, and the shirt will be worn in one of the pieces on stage, just like a costume. What a display of unity it will be! Last but certainly not least, every student in the dance program will have their name on the back of the shirt, memorializing the moment, and bringing together dancers though the district. It's not hard to believe that dancers will be able to recognize each other from far away if they are wearing a dance shirt from their year for years to come
The deadline for this contest is November 10.
All dance students in the program are listed on the back of the shirt. That was 121 students between both schools!
