Summer Pre-service will occur in four phases and starts in June with Launch + Launch Live!, CM Training, and Practicum. You will continue building your context of educational inequity in NYC and across the country, begin building foundational skills and mindsets of an aspiring anti-racist educator, grow your readiness to enter the classroom, and deepen relationships with your fellow corps members! Below are some key takeaways.
As a reminder, you should expect summer training to be full work/school days.
Launch (April 24-June 8):
Launch contains a set of asynchronous modules to prepare corps members for summer training and opens to all corps members on April 24.
You will build foundational knowledge and understanding of your role as a corps member within TFA and understand more about what the organization seeks to accomplish in the short- and long-term
Launch Live! (June 8-9):
Launch Live! is a two-day synchronous experience to welcome you into the 2023 corps and lay the foundations for Pre-Service Training.
You will build community with one another in regional teams and build context for our work as one Teach For America.
Training (June 12- June 23):
During Training, corps members will spend two weeks on centralized learning experiences, primarily done synchronously with some asynchronous engagements throughout.
you will build on the foundational concepts explored during Launch and begin building more practical skills and reflective capacities as you prepare to begin your summer teaching commitment in Practicum.
Induction (June 26-30):
In person, more information to come!
Practicum (July 3-July 28):
Over a 3+-week Practicum experience, corps members will split their time between virtual centralized training and in-person practicum training, which will include regional programming, classroom teaching, and coaching.
During Practicum, CMs directly apply their learnings while continuing to receive both region-led and centralized coaching and development.
**After summer training, there may be a transition period as you meet your coach and get ready for the first day of school.

We highly encourage you to move to NYC prior to Week 1 of full-time virtual Pre-service Training (Thursday, June 8).
We heard feedback from corps members last year that although June 8 - June 23 is virtual, it was difficult to focus on the intense learning of Pre-service while also planning and preparing to move during that time.
For those who can, we suggest you move in and settle prior to June 8 so you can fully focus on the learning. We understand that not everyone will be able to do this.
The latest possible date you should move is Sunday, June 25 so you can be prepared for in-person/hybrid sessions that start the week of Monday, June 26 and continue through July.
