It is crucial to budget enough time to thoroughly prepare for the actual exam. We have found in the past that corps members spent anywhere from 15-45 total hours in order to adequately prepare for certification tests. You should avoid “cramming” or procrastinating on studying for your exams. You should also avoid taking the exams without studying “just to see what is on them.” We find that corps members who procrastinate or take the exams without studying fail at high rates and spend more of their financial resources paying for exams. We encourage corps members to utilize all the resources provided by the State, online vendors, and Teach For America.
