New York State law requires you to have fingerprints on file in order to receive your certification and enter your classroom this fall. It can take weeks for your fingerprints to be processed. There are many places where your fingerprinting could have a delay in being processed so it is imperative that you complete this action as soon as possible assuming you feel safe and have access to a fingerprinting center. Your first concern should be your safety and health. Please do not do anything that you feel puts your health at risk. Secondly, please make sure you are aware of the local and state guidelines given to you in your current location about social distancing and other restrictions on business.
Important Note: This process is separate from your AmeriCorps Fieldprint process which you will learn about soon. We understand some of these steps may seem repetitive, but unfortunately fingerprinting services do not share information with other entities so you are required to use the specific services outlined for each set of fingerprints needed. This means you will need to do a second set of prints this summer.
Next steps:
Read the Fingerprinting Guide.
Read the Fingerprinting FAQs. Every year, corps members Slack and email us these questions. We'll refer you back to this FAQ so please do read it now!
Complete this fingerprinting survey to let us know your plan by Sunday, April 20th end of day. It will ask you if you have an appointment. If you are checking daily for openings please wait to complete this survey until close to the deadline.
Once you’ve been printed, save the receipt from the fingerprinting technician and upload your fingerprint receipt/proof of purchase by emailing Fingerp.xxlia3wmv5hxefri@u.box.com . Be sure to rename the document “LastName.FirstName.FingerprintReceipt”. You will NOT be able to teach this summer if we don’t have this receipt, as it’s proof that you’ve been printed, and they are in process.
The deadline to be fingerprinted is June 1. Please prioritize completing this action item as soon as possible as any delay will impact your employment and start date.
