From the Office

Wow! It's hard to believe the first day of school is Tuesday, September 8th, but we are so excited to get started on this learning adventure with each and every one of you! Last night we had over 175 families join us for our first ever Virtual Meet the Teacher. Thank you to everyone who was able to join and especially for all of the patience and grace provided by everyone as we worked through some growing pains as we get used to using new technology.

Below are answers and links to some of your most common questions:

  • Google Classroom Codes - I will be emailing Google Classroom codes to student emails and the email of each student's Primary Contact. For security reasons, we can't post these codes publicly.

  • What do I do Tuesday morning? - Come to the Morning Huddle at 9:15 and then 1st Period at 9:30. There is a Google Classroom for the Morning Huddle and you will receive that code in the email with the other classroom codes. You will go to the Google Classroom and then join the Google Meet using the link in the Google Classroom. DON'T STRESS IF YOU MISS MORNING HUDDLE!

  • What is my schedule? - Your schedule will be included in the email with the Google Classroom Codes.

  • What am I doing everyday? - The Student Daily Schedule is included in this newsletter. Scroll down.

  • What if I still need technology? - We currently do not have additional Chromebooks, but we are keeping a list of students who need one so we can get those to you as soon as we get them.

2020-2021 Online Registration

Thank you to everyone who has already completed online registration! If you have not yet finished registering your student, please use the links below to access the registration website and helpful resources. Please call us at 817-814-7300 if you have any questions.

FWISD Forward Survey

As we all prepare to move Fort Worth ISD Forward -- with virtual instruction scheduled to begin September 8 -- we are committed to providing a safe and productive learning environment for ALL of our students and employees.

Since June, when we last asked your intentions on returning students to brick and mortar schools, your thoughts and comfort level may have changed.

To follow up on that Reshaping 2020-21 survey, we need your current feedback about your choice of in-person or virtual learning. This information will help District leadership make appropriate plans for your children.

Parents, this survey is not a registration for virtual or in-person learning but an effort to gather your input. Please complete the survey below for each child who will be a student in Fort Worth ISD, using your student’s identification number. If you do not know your child’s student ID, you may call your school to find out.

We truly value your responses! If you have any concerns, please contact us at AskEval@fwisd.org.

Just Ask!

We Answer!

Below are the answers to the most recent questions. Please continue to send in your questions!

For virtual learning, every student needs a device that connects to the internet and can engage with Google Classroom and Google Meet. Also, have a pen or pencil and paper ready!

Is there a dress code for online learning?

There is not a specific dress code for virtual learning, but students are expected to be in attire that is school appropriate since they will be participating in Google Meets everyday.

How do I know if my child is enrolled for virtual learning?

Every student in FWISD is learning virtually for the first four weeks of instruction. Please complete the survey included in this newsletter to help FWISD plan for virtual and in-person learning after the four weeks of all virtual.

Virtual Learning Environments

While working at home it is important to create an area that is free from distractions where you can work everyday. Below are a few examples of Virtual Learning Environments. Share your virtual learning environment on our Facebook page!

JUST THE BASICS

Only have what you need in your workspace. It is easier to focus when you have less distractions.

AVOID BACKGROUND DISTRACTIONS

If you work while facing a wall it will be easier to focus on the screen and not what is happening behind your screen.

KEEP IT SIMPLE

You don't need anything fancy to create a space where you can focus on your school work.
