Mission Arlington

Mission Arlington emergency assistance supports families in crisis. Their service operation stays open six days each week, in order to be here when people need help. This is especially important for families with working adults. Crises in people’s lives happen all times of day and night, and they are here to help. Childcare is provided for parents when they are on campus receiving assistance.

Food and Clothing:

• Groceries: We supply individuals and families with short-term supplies of groceries designed to last for several days, based on family size.

• Clothing: Provides clothes and shoes for children, youth, and adults

Financial Assistance:

• Rent: Assists with partial rent payments in order to help families through a crisis, and/or to prevent a family from losing the stability that a home provides.

• Utilities: We work with utility companies to provide partial payments to help keep a family’s utilities (electricity, water, gas, etc.) on, so that they will be able to stay in the home.

• Prescriptions: We partner with our medical clinic to provide medications for people free of charge, and on a limited basis we help to pay a portion of a prescription cost to help a family obtain the medicine they need.

• Gas Vouchers: We also help with gas vouchers to assist someone with transportation to and from a job interview.

Home Items:

• Baby Items

• Bicycles

• Computers

• Household Items: Items such as blankets, dishes, pictures, silverware and all other sorts of items are provided to help people in crisis.

• Identification: provide support to people with different kinds of identification needs such as, driver’s licenses, identification cards, and birth certificates.

• Medical Equipment: We loan walkers, wheelchairs, cains, and other types of medical equipment needs

SNAP

The Texas Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is an entitlement program that provides monthly benefits to assist low-income households in purchasing the food they need to maintain adequate nutritional levels. People also can buy garden seeds with SNAP benefits. Benefits are distributed through an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card, the Lone Star Card, which essentially serves as a credit card exclusively for food benefits.

In general, these benefits are for any food or food product intended for human consumption. Benefits may not be used for items such as alcoholic beverages, cigarettes, paper products or food bills you owe. Eligibility is based on yearly household income and family size.

Apply

Apply online at https://www.yourtexasbenefits.com/Learn/Home#login.

Click on the "Apply" tab and click "Apply Now." Log in or create an account.

You can print the form, fill it out by hand and mail us a signed and dated copy of the form.

Pre-screening Tool

The Pre-screening Tool on our website can be used to determine if you may be eligible to receive benefits, support services, or both. This form will first ask you to pick the types of benefits and support services you want to know about. It will then ask you about the person or people who need benefits or services. You will need to give some personal facts about each person. Depending on answers you give in the form, you will see what you might be able to get - benefits, support services, or both. You then can decide what actions you want to take, applying for for benefits or sending your form to support service programs.

You can find the pre-eligibility screening at https://yourtexasbenefits.com/Screener/WhatToExpect.

COVID-19 Relief Center:

Due to the recent outbreak of COVID-19 we have dedicated our Good Deeds program to helping alleviate the uncertainty for families during this time. Whether you're looking to help or you're going through a tough time, we're here for you. We are currently working with our generous partners to provide food assistance to those who cannot purchase food due to financial burden or shortages in their area.

Please visit our website to apply for emergency assistance. The application will place you into a virtual queue and you will be notified by email with instructions on how to redeem your bag of groceries if it is funded. While we are trying to assist everyone, filling out the application does not guarantee assistance.
