Meggan Hinds is starting her 10th year as a band director at Western Hills High School, with the first two years serving as the assistant band director and the recent years as the Director of Bands. Her responsibilities include the direction of the Western Hills Wind Symphony, Cougar Marching Band, the Western Hills beginning band class, and the Dual-Credit Music Appreciation Course, as well as leadership for the Western Hills Band Cluster.
Ms. Hinds has 19 years of playing experience on the French horn and currently performs with the Mansfield Wind Symphony Band. She is currently a member of Texas Music Educators Association and Texas Bandmasters Association, and is serving as the Music Region 5 Vice-President.
In 2015 Ms. Hinds earned her Bachelor of Music Education Degree from the University of Oklahoma, where she performed in the orchestra and concert bands as well as the Pride of Oklahoma Marching Band and Sooner Showmen Basketball Band. She was a member of the Alpha Iota Chapter of the Sigma Alpha Iota Music Fraternity, serving as the Vice President of Ritual and President. In December of 2021 Ms. Hinds earned her Master of Music Education Degree from Southern Methodist University. During this time, Ms. Hinds focused on the topics of music history, music education strategies, and music research, including completing a thesis on the topic of Musculoskeletal Pain in Music Conductors.
Away from her active teaching responsibilities, Ms. Hinds enjoys spending time with her family and friends, playing board and card games, watching and playing sports, and playing with her dog named Ellie.
