What does "OYAP" stand for?
OYAP stands for the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program.
What is Accelerated OYAP?
Accelerated OYAP is a specialized program that enables students to begin their apprenticeship training in a skilled trade during their final semester of high school. The program includes a full-time work placement along with an 8-week Level 1 Training block, which takes place at a college or union training centre.
Who is eligible?
Grade 12 students in their graduating year who are interested in pursuing a career in one of the skilled trades listed on the program website.
When does the program start?
Accelerated OYAP runs as an intensive, one-semester program during your last semester of high school.
When are applications due?
Applications must be submitted by November 7, 2025.

Friendly reminder - the intake process for the Drywalling Accelerated OYAP program is earlier than other Accelerated Programs. Please promote! Successful students will be on their way to becoming a professional Drywall and Interior Finisher. Last year, 2 students from Westview Centennial completed the program and are now making $29.05 an hour, and have signed with Local Union 675.
