Desmos is an advanced and easy-to-use online graphing calculator featuring teaching tools that can be incorporated into the classroom. The instructions found below the video describe how to use the graphing calculator and teaching functions on a computer.
GRAPHING CALCULATOR:
- Type the equation into the box in the top left corner of the webpage.
- Use the functions button on the bottom right to graph special functions (ie. trigonomtetric functions, logarithmic functions).
- Left-click on the graph to see the exact values of points.
- Change the colour of the graph by clicking and holding down the left mouse button on the circle beside an equation.
TEACHING TOOLS:
- Make an account at teacher.desmos.com.
- Browse through the list of classroom activities by typing keywords into the search bar or by looking through the bundles Desmos has made available.
- After deciding on an activity, create a class code and share it with your students.
- Monitor your students’ progress on your dashboard
- Find tips on how to help them learn from their mistakes.
