Kahoot is a game-based learning platform. Doing homework by playing a quiz, a jumble, a discussion forum, or a survey will keep students motivated to learn! Assigning kahoots as homework is as easy as 1, 2, 3 by using the #challenge feature. Kahoot can be used for any subject and makes a great class activity.
Jumble offers the same competitive-play as a Quiz. But Jumble questions come with a twist by challenging players to place answers in the correct order rather than selecting one correct answer. This can be great for listing orders, making math equations and for putting events in chronological order.
Question: List the inventions from earliest to most recent.
A. Toaster B. Refrigerator C. Phone D. Car
With a quiz, you can create questions and four answers, with a maximum of four right answers and a minimum of one. Some features that are unique to a quiz include assigning right/wrong answers and toggling points on/off. When a quiz is played, there will be a scoreboard between questions to show the current top-scoring players. Quizzes are great for introducing new topics, reviewing recently learned material, and adding fun/reward to the learning experience.
Question: What is Canada's capital city?
A. Ottawa B. Toronto C. Nunavut D. Montreal
A survey is almost identical to a quiz except for there is no right or wrong answers and there is no points system or scoreboards. You will still see a bar graph between questions showing how many chose each answer. Surveys can be used to find out what participants already know (or just learned) without competition, and you can use the bar graphs to guide conversation.
Question 1: Do you like ice cream?
A. Yes B. No
Question 2: What is your favourite ice cream flavour?
A. Vanilla B. Cake Dough C. Chocolate D. Berry
Similar to a survey, a discussion has no right or wrong answer, points systems or scoreboards. The only difference between a survey and a discussion is that a discussion has a limit of one question. This is great for gathering opinions or information in the middle of a lecture and can be used as a discussion starter.
Question: Who do you think should have won the US election?
