Fay and Fluffy will spread their message of inclusivity, kindness and being proud of who we are from their colourful set. they’ll read picture books and discuss a variety of topics, With puppet friends and special guests.

Monday May 30th

Interactive Arts Session with QTAY

10:30 - 11:30 am, Grades 6-12


Monstrosity and Re-Creating Yourself is a creative, interactive art session in which students will learn about and explore their many identities through the lens of mythical creatures and monsters. Get your art supplies ready!

ACAS’ Youth Program for East and Southeast Asians aged 16-29 strives to increase education, opportunities, support and resiliency skills for Asian youth in Toronto in dealing with the various social/health challenges and questions of being LGBTQ+ and of other genders or sexualities.  As a program for youth by youth, all our activities are based on a non-judgmental peer education approach. Queer & Trans Asian Youth (QTAY) is an initiative of the ACAS Youth Program that has been providing social spaces, capacity development, and peer support for LGBTTQQ+, curious and undecided East and Southeast Asian youths and their friends since 2000.


More about Dany Ko:

MXKO, also known as Dany (siya/伊 or they/them), creates many things--drawings, zines, logos, workshops, and more. They are a diasporic Filipino/Chinese queer deaf and multiply-disabled person who focuses on creation and storytelling as a way of connecting to, building, and reimagining community.  Recently, they have had the pleasure of leading workshops and discussions on topics such as intersectionality, reimagining identity, storytelling as healing, and Queer Asian pride / solidarity with other movements.


They are doing most of their creative and activist work at Asian Community AIDS Services (ACAS), where they are currently employed as the Queer & Trans Asian Youth Program Coordinator.  They also serve as the Board Chair for Students for Barrier-Free Access (SBA) and take on freelance graphic design projects for various organizations.

Quahoot!

4:00 - 5:00 pm, Grades 9-12


Queer Kahoot or “Quahoot” will be a fun after school event for secondary students to participate in virtually. It will be an opportunity to test student knowledge of Queer icons, history, music, movies and so much more!

Tuesday May 31st

Transition to High School

9:30 - 10:15 am, Grades 7-8


Panel discussion for students in Grades 7 and 8 who want real talk about the transition to high school for 2SLGBTQIAP+ students. Panelists are high school students from several TDSB high schools who will share their experiences and answer questions. Joining us is special guest Avi Magidsohn (Social Worker, Gender Based Violence Prevention & Triangle Program). The event will be moderated by a Guidance Counsellor.

Awareness from 2 Souls: Indigenous 2-Spirit Perspectives on Gender & Sexuality

11:35 - 12:20 pm, Grades 7-12


This workshop explores a variety of Indigenous perspectives about sexual and gender identity. It explains what "2-spirit" means as well as the roles and responsibilities members of the 2SLGBTQ+ people played in pre-colonial Indigenous societies.

Ace/Aro Event with Special Guest FROG BOSS!

4:00 - 5:00 pm, Grades 9-12


Do you love queer/trans media representation? Do you want more ace/aro recommendations? Do you just LOVE Bob Ross?! We’ve got the best of all of this for you! Planned and hosted by ace/aro students, you will get the opportunity to share your favourite queer/trans rep in our jamboard and follow a virtual painting tutorial by none other than our very own ace/aro paint legend FROG BOSS! You won’t want to miss this!

Board Game Night with the Queer Muslim Network

4:00 - 5:00 pm, Grades 7-12


Board game night is a virtual evening of fun and laughs for queer and trans community members to get to know each other in a low-pressure environment. Through the platform Jack in The Box, we'll go through several different games and participants will have the chance to interact through video or chat, based on their comfort.

Queer Muslim Network Toronto is a community led organization that serves queer and trans Muslims all across the GTA. Through storytelling, art, and friendship, we hope to show the world that queer Muslims have always existed and will continue to do so. 


More about Summeiya Yehya Khamissa: 

Summeiya Yehya Khamissa (they/them) is a genderfluid educator, community organizer, and workshop facilitator based in Tkaronto. They are the founder of Queer Muslim Network Toronto and the Youth Network Project Coordinator at The Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity (CCSDG). Outside of their organizing work, Summeiya is also completing their undergrad in Children, Childhood, and Youth Studies at York University.

Outdoor Education with a RAINBOW connection - Please join Rich Scott (he/him) as he explores nature, biology, and sexuality in the natural world through the study of queer ecology through a live virtual hike from a forested river valley.

Tea Condo

Tea Condo is a digital "coffee house"/"open mic" event that celebrates the creativity of queer and trans folks in the TDSB and the GSA community. 

June 13th - 17th

Two-Spirit/Indigiqueer Pride


The Urban Indigenous Education Centre (UIEC) is celebrating its 2nd annual Two-Spirit & Indigiqueer Pride Week from Monday, June 13 to Friday June 17!


Festivities kick off on Monday, June 13 with a webinar with two-spirit Elder Blu Waters and Keith McCrady, Executive Director, 2-Spirited People of the 1st Nations.


The events throughout the week include, an artist panel with Two-Spirit/Indigiqueer artists Thirza Cuthan, Theola Ross and Tyler J Sloane; authors of Surviving the City Tasha Spillet and Elder Albert McLeod; Two-Spirit, Ojibwe artist Patrick Hunter; Two-Spirit advocate and mental health expert, Teddy Syrette, author of Urban Indigenous Youth Reframing Two-Spirit, Marie Lang, and others.
