1969: then-prime minister Pierre Trudeau made minor changes to legislation which had criminalized consensual sex between people of the same sex. However, the changes did not repeal the provisions of "buggery" and "gross indecency" and police used these charges to prosecute queer people, particularly in bathhouses.
