These lessons were designed with the principles of 21st Century Learning in mind. Lessons promote the development of the TDSB Global Competencies including Critical Thinking, Creativity, and Collaboration. Teachers are encouraged to view all lessons, select which ones will work best for their classroom, and adapt as necessary. As the lessons involve both student inquiry and the creation of an authentic piece, teachers should allot 3-5 classes per topic.

C2.3 - Describe how coping and interpersonal skills and their knowledge of personal protective and risk factors can be used to develop resilience and enhance their ability to make healthy choices, including the avoidance of substance use and addictive behaviours;
C3.3 - Analyze local and international trends and issues relating to substance use and addictions, and assess their impact on society.
