Student Success
At Runnymede CI, our Student Success Team is dedicated to providing personalized support and targeted attention for every student who needs it. Our team meets monthly to identify students who are not achieving to their full potential, develop tailored support strategies, and actively monitor their progress. Comprised of school administrators, student success teachers, guidance counsellors, academic resources staff, and subject teachers, our goal is to equip students with the essential tools for academic success while fostering an engaging, inclusive high school experience.
A core focus of the Student Success program is to help students build and maintain their credit accumulation. We offer the following key initiatives to keep students on track for graduation:
Credit Recovery Classes: Students who have been unsuccessful in a course may be given the opportunity to recover the credit in a subsequent semester or school year. Candidate selection is based on past academic performance, attendance patterns, and overall credit counts.
Credit Rescue: Classroom teachers provide targeted opportunities for students to complete missed or incomplete assignments, allowing them to rescue a credit that may be at risk before the semester ends.
Transition Initiatives: We offer specialized programming to guide students through pivotal milestones - both from Grade 8 into Grade 9, and from Grade 12 into post-secondary education or the workplace. Our team collaborates across departments to host Grade 8-to-9 intake meetings, the Grade 9 "Head Start" orientation day, and Parent Information Sessions. Additionally, we work closely with Grade 12 students to assist with career exploration and post-secondary planning.
