Our Science Department is a dynamic hub for curious thinkers and future innovators. Rooted in our mission to help students realize their full potential as lifelong learners, we empower them to explore scientific thinking as a powerful tool for understanding—and solving—21st-century challenges. Through hands-on inquiry, modern STEM practices, and real-world problem solving, students develop the skills and confidence to explore new possibilities and deepen their understanding of the world.

Are you a fan of true crime?
Runnymede is one of only a few TDSB schools that offers a Forensic Science course! This unique program blends biology, chemistry, and physics and applies them to solving mock crime scenarios. Students also examine real cases and learn directly from experts in the field.
Topics include: DNA profiling, ballistics, fingerprinting, hair and fibre analysis, blood-spatter interpretation, handwriting analysis, cybercrime and arson investigation — all explored through engaging, hands-on labs!
We believe science comes alive through experiential learning. Our students learn by doing — through hands-on labs, interactive activities, and dynamic field trips. From the Science Centre and outdoor education sites to SickKids Hospital and university research labs, we provide unforgettable opportunities that connect classroom learning to the real world.
