Health & Physical Education
Welcome to Health & Physical Education!
At Oakwood Collegiate Institute, we believe that sportsmanship and competition are an excellent way of developing personal skills, confidence and character. By competing in the prestigious Toronto District South, student-athletes play with the best and against the best.
The members of the Oakwood Collegiate Institute Coaching Staff are teachers and community volunteers. Each coach is concerned about their student-athletes' overall development in the classroom, as well as on the athletic field. Oakwood's athletic programs have a dual purpose: to enable the student to enjoy sport, and to achieve success through disciplined, hard work, and dedication. Such an approach has provided a blueprint for competitive play and success in athletics. Post-season playoffs and championships are the rules, rather than the exception for the school's teams.

For the students who are not interested in competing within specific sporting areas, intramural teams provide an excellent opportunity for enjoyable participation and development of skills. The intramural program includes touch football, floor hockey, indoor soccer, table tennis and weight room/fitness club. We also include various athletic events such as 3-point contests, circuits and dance drop-ins.
