OUR PHILOSOPHY
At Oakwood, we believe that students should leave high school with both a love of reading and a passion for writing. To meet those goals we aim to provide students with a range of high interest and challenging texts. We offer a wide range of independent reading so that students can discover what they like, with the hope that they will be lifelong readers and learners. To encourage high quality writing, we practice specific skills daily, giving students the opportunity to explore a variety of writing forms and strategies. When they leave Oakwood, we want writing to be second nature for our students, and an extension of their thinking. Our rigorous, skills based teaching allows students to reach their highest potential.
