Oakridge Junior Public School is proud to support the students in our Developmental Disabilities (DD) Program and their parents/guardians. Our goal is to help each child work toward their personal and educational best within a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
Our Developmental Disabilities Program is supported by a collaborative team that includes teachers, educational assistants, and special needs assistants. Programming follows the alternative curriculum, with a focus on Communication, Social Skills, Daily Living Skills, Functional Academics, Motor Development, and Experiential Learning.
We are committed to helping students develop functional life skills that support independence and confidence. Students are encouraged to participate to the greatest extent possible in school routines, classroom activities, and the broader school community, with appropriate supports in place.
Experiential learning is an important part of our program. Students engage in hands-on learning opportunities that are developmentally appropriate and aligned with individual strengths and needs. Through these experiences, students build skills, relationships, and a sense of belonging within their school and community.
