Oakridge's Star Garden is a beautiful oasis in the heart of our school.
Children visit the Star Garden courtyard to learn about the natural world in a calm and beautiful environment. One example of this learning is Oakridge Playcare's (before and after school program) recent financial grant from the City of Toronto for a "Garden to Classroom" project. Their educators and students plan to grow vegetables in raised beds.
Filled with Ontario plants, the Star Garden is tended with love by volunteers. If you'd like to help, please speak to the office or your teacher.
We’re creating pollinator habitat in our community with a PollinateTO Grant! Beginning this year, Oakridge will be establishing pollinator habitat in the Star Garden. Pollinators play an essential role in local biodiversity and by planting native plants, using sustainable landscaping practices, and engaging our community, we will contribute to the important stewardship work of protecting Toronto’s pollinators. Keep an eye out for upcoming events!
